Nurturer By Nature

This week I attended meet the teacher night at my daughters school. I was a bit annoyed at first because I wanted my husband to be there, so I wouldn’t have to be wrestling with both girls while trying to pay attention to the teacher. I mean for these things, I prefer to be fully engaged. But when you have a husband that works nights. Sometimes you have to swing it alone, with the children in tow.

So after two meltdowns and one attempt to runaway, I got Ari and Kendra over to the classroom to finally meet Kendra’s first grade teachers. As soon as we walked up I hear “Oh you must be Kendra’s Mom!” I was told two things instantly, both were not news to me but great to hear.

The first was the obvious, Ari looks just like her big sister! Now if I had a dollar for every time I heard that, Lol. The next was just great for me to hear as a parent. Both teachers spoke to Kendra’s good nature. And how she was so nurturing and helpful to all the other students.

As if that wasn’t enough, I literally had a parent walk up to us after the teachers finished presenting, to let me know of his daughters adoration for her “big sister” Kendra.

I of course had to stay back to ask more questions regarding the workload and potential challenges for Kendra. But I left the school feeling so proud of my six year old.  Besides being beautiful, smart and charming (slight bias), she is also turning out to be a great human. Which is just what the world needs!
