2018 Apple/Pumpkin Picking

Yesterday we loaded up in our car and headed East for some fun at the farm. Two years ago, we visited Hanks Pumpkintown in Southampton for the first time, and loved it. Last year we went more local but really nothing beats the fun that Hanks has to offer.

The drive was an hour long but we loaded in one baby, three kids, a teenager and three adults into our SUV. We filled the ride with music, food and IPads to keep everyone happy.

Once we got there we immediately started taking pictures in the oversized chair. And then the kids insisted on playing on the many play areas they have to offer. With brief interruptions for photo ops they enjoyed themselves on the wooden trains and planes.

After seeing the kids 25th trip down the slide, we started smelling the roast corn and immediately took a break to indulge.  The farm was swarming with bees, which they said was due to the warm climate we were having. But we decided to risk it all and each enjoyed the roast corn dipped in butter. Yummy.

We fought off the bees and then ventured over to the Pumpkin patch. The pumpkins were humongous. So we didn’t necessarily pick them but instead used the opportunity for a photo or two (or three).

Now the kids were slightly over taking pictures at this point and the adults were ready to take a nap. This is what we call adulting. So it was clearly time to go apple picking.

The apple picking had a minimum of four people per bag so we got three bags which was $25 a bag. From our previous visit we knew straight away that we wanted to fill up our bag with mostly Empire apples.

We immediately went down that aisle and picked apples, tasting them of course, to make sure we still loved them as much as we did the first time. And we did, the other favorite of the day was Honeycrisp. So juicy and delicious.

Overall we had an amazing day and can’t wait to visit the farm again.
